The popular streaming service Netflix aims to release 80 original films over the course of 2018.
Variety reports that Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos said the company intends to release a range of different films, "anywhere from the million-dollar Sundance hit, all the way up to something on a much larger scale."
Some of Netflix's forthcoming large-scale titles include Bright, starring Will Smith, and The Irishman, starring Robert DeNiro, with production costs of $90 and $100 million, respectively. Sarandos believes these original films will bring their movies initiative up to the same scale as television for Netflix.
He also addressed the competitive content market and Disney's departure from the service.
"We just have to focus on creating content that our members can’t live without," he said. "Whether or not one of our partners decides to produce for us or compete with us, that’s really a choice that they have to make based on their own business."
Here's a list of all the new content coming to Netflix this month. Earlier this month, the streaming company announced it's raising its subscription prices for users in the United States.
