Marvel held their "Next Big Thing: Marvel Legacy" panel at NYCC today, where the publisher revealed one more title joining the growing Marvel Legacy lineup next spring. Spinning out of the recent "Weapons of Mutant Destruction" crossover will be Weapon H, a series starring the Hulk/Wolverine hybrid character.
No creative team was revealed for the new series, but fans can expect the book to make its debut in March 2018. Weapon H will follow two other newly revealed X-Men comics in 2018 - Rogue & Gambit and Legion.
All-New Guardians of the Galaxy writer Gerry Duggan discussed some upcoming plot points as the series reverts to its classic numbering in Marvel Legacy. Duggan is currently gearing up for the big return of Adam Warlock in issue #150. He also confirmed that Ant-Man is the former Avenger who will soon be joining the team (as we speculated based on the recent teaser) and teased a future appearance by Beta Ray Bill.
Duggan also gave fans a better idea of what to expect from the next stage of his Deadpool run, as the series reverts to its classic numbering and takes on the name "The Despicable Deadpool." The new status quo kicks off as Deadpool apparently murders his old friend Cable. Cable is one of four kills assigned to Deadpool by Stryfe, kills which are intended to repay Stryfe for his help in saving four people close to Deadpool.
Other details revealed during the panel:
- Secret Warriors writer Matthew Rosenberg revealed that Mister Sinister will be the series' primary villain in the upcoming second story arc, and that Magik will be joining the team to help battle their common enemy.
- Marvel will be offering free copies of Runaways #1 as part of Halloween Comicfest.
- The new arc of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl will pit the heroine against a group of villains who dress as Silver Surfer and extort worlds for money by pretending to save them from Galactus.
- In response to the obligatory question about the current whereabouts of the Fantastic Four, Senior Editor Nick Lowe noted that the Richards family are still very busy elsewhere in the multiverse, but that fans should look to Marvel Two-In-One for more of Human Torch and The Thing.
