Woody Harrelson, who will be seen this summer in War for the Planet of the Apes, is reportedly in talks to join the Star Wars Han Solo standalone movie.
Variety reports that the Cheers and True Detective alum is the top choice to play the mentor to Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) in the movie, which comes from 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Beyond this brief description there are no other details about the character as yet, including a name.
The Han Solo movie is scheduled to start production this month, with Kathleen Kennedy and Allison Shearmur producing. Shearmur previously worked with Harrelson on The Hunger Games franchise, where Harrleson starred as Katniss Everdeen's (Jennifer Lawrence) mentor, Haymitch Abernathy.
Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens) wrote the script for the Han Solo movie, with his son, Jon Kasdan. Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke joined the cast recently, while Donald Glover will star opposite Ehrenreich as fellow scoundrel Lando Calrissian, a role Glover says he's "very honored" to play.
