Marvel's Cloak and Dagger Cast for TV Series

"When Olivia and Aubrey read for the roles, these characters leapt off the page."

The two leads for Marvel's Cloak and Dagger TV series have been unmasked.

Actress and singer Olivia Holt will play Tandy Bowen (Dagger), while The Night Of actor Aubrey Joseph will portray Tyrone Johnson (Cloak). In the official cast announcement, Marvel describes the Cloak and Dagger show as a coming-of-age story.

“The characters of Tandy and Tyrone have always stood out to me ever since I first met them in the pages of Marvel comics when I was a boy," Joe Pokaski, Cloak and Dagger's showrunner and executive producer, said. "When Olivia and Aubrey read for the roles, these characters leapt off the page."

When the two pair up, it'll serve as a life-changing event for both of them on the show. Freeform Network has already greenlit Cloak and Dagger for a straight-to-order series. For those unfamiliar with the comic book characters, Marvel offered this official description of the two lead characters alongside the announcement:

"Once a privileged little girl, Tandy Bowen watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life changing event.

"Young Tyrone Johnson wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy his life changes forever."

Cloak and Dagger is set to debut in 2018.
