Han Solo Movie Debut Rumored to Move to Christmas 2018

Shifting from May to December?

Disney's upcoming Han Solo movie may no longer debut in May of next year, as a possible release date shift to December 2018 is rumored to be in the works.

According to Making Star Wars, sources from within the movie theater industry have told the website that the film will now reportedly release on December 13, 2018 as opposed to its current May 25, 2018 release date.

The outlet notes that the paperwork allegedly containing the December date states the release is subject to change.

IGN has reached out to Disney for comment regarding the reported date change and will update this story should they respond.

Both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One found incredible success launching in December. In fact, Rogue One just recently surpassed Captain America: Civil War to secure its place as the second highest-grossing movie of 2016.

Last January, Disney shifted Star Wars: Episode VIII from May to December 2017. However, there is no official word yet about whether the studio plans to do the same for Han Solo.

Chris Miller and Phil Lord are directing the Han Solo standalone movie, which stars Alden Ehrenreich as young Han Solo and Donald Glover as young Lando Calrissian. According to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, the film will have a "heist or Western type feel."
