Despite reports that it was a done deal, it seems there's a chance The Batman may not be directed by Ben Affleck, as the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star says he won't helm the upcoming DC film unless it comes together in a way that be believes will be "really great."
In an interview with The Guardian, Affleck said that while the current plan is for him to direct the solo Batman movie, nothing is cemented. "That's the idea. But it's not a set thing and there's no script," he explained.
Affleck added, "If it doesn't come together in a way I think is really great I'm not going to do it."
With regard to why he signed on to star as Batman in the DCEU, Affleck revealed that his son was was the main reason he took the role. "Sam thinks his dad is Batman," he said, noting that it's "an incredible feeling."
While Joe Manganiello, who's set to star as Deathstroke in The Batman, recently said the film will begin shooting this coming spring, just last month Affleck provided an update on the film's status, saying they're in no rush to make the movie, and a script isn't yet complete.
