During a Nintendo Direct stream today, Nintendo revealed a new version of Super Mario Maker headed to Nintendo 3DS on December 2nd.
Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS will feature 100 Nintendo-made courses in the box, and also allows players to connect to the internet to play courses built on the Wii U version released last year. Wii U puzzles won’t be searchable by their course ID, but will be playable in 100 Mario Challenge. Nintendo noted that not all Wii U courses will be compatible with the 3DS version.
On 3DS, the full Super Mario Maker feature set will be available for course building aside from Mystery Mushrooms. Players will be able to share courses they build via local multiplayer or via StreetPass. They’ll also be able to send partially finished courses to friends in order to collaborate.
