A sequel to Shanghai Noon is moving forward at MGM, and Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess is attached to direct.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this third entry in the beloved action-comedy series is titled Shanghai Dawn and may once again star both Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson, as the pair are currently in talks to reprise their roles as Chon Wang and Roy O'Bannon, respectively.

While Shanghai Dawn plot details are being kept under wraps for the time being, THR says Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights writers Miles Millar and Alfred Gough crafted the story, and Theodore Riley and Aaron Buchsbaum penned the script.
Millar and Gough are on board as executive producers. Spyglass Entertainment is producing as well.
In addition to his directorial work on Napoleon Dynamite, Hess also helmed the upcoming comedy Masterminds—starring Wilson, Zach Galifianakis, Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig—which opens in theaters September 30.
