Bungie's sequel to Destiny, which is slated to release in 2017, is also reportedly coming to PC.
NeoGAF user benny_a, who allegedly has a source at Activision, said the news about a PC version was revealed during an internal presentation at the publisher today, and went on to note that Vicarious Visions is also helping out with Destiny 2.
This lines up with what Kotaku has reportedly heard from its sources. In addition to a PC version and the added help of Vicarious Visions, the outlet has heard that High Moon and others are helping out on the upcoming sequel, which is aiming to feel like an entirely new game.
The leadership at Bungie reportedly wants Destiny 2 to feel like a true sequel, even if that means starting from scratch and leaving all the content from the original game behind. Kotaku's sources compared the sequel to the jump Blizzard made from Diablo to Diablo 2. In fact, one source told the outlet "D2 is a completely different game," noting that "The Taken King was a reboot for Destiny 1 to fix small things," and Destiny 2 "is the overhaul to fix big things."
The sequel is rumored to have a new activity model, referred to as "play-in destinations," which will make for planets that have more densely populated locations to explore and more interesting quests that will serve as an improvement over the patrol missions featured in the original game.
Whether or not players will be able to carry over their characters from the original Destiny is reportedly something that is still being decided on at Bungie. Just last month, Activision's Eric Hirshberg offered an update on the game's status, confirming the "majority" of Bungie's development staff is focused strictly on Destiny 2.
