Insomniac, Polytron, Other Indies Pull Oculus Support

Some smaller indie studios follow suit.

In light of recent revelations around Oculus founder Palmer Luckey's funding of a 501(c)4 non-profit dedicated to supporting US presidential candidate Donald Trump, several indie developers have publicly announced they will no longer support Oculus Rift.

Insomniac Games, currently working on three games for the Oculus Rift, gave us the following statement:

"Insomniac Games condemns all forms of hate speech. While everyone has a right to express his or her political opinion, the behavior and sentiments reported do not reflect the values of our company. We are also confident that this behavior and sentiment does not reflect the values of the many Oculus employees we work with on a daily basis."

Polytron, the studio behind Fez, announced via Twitter it was ending support for Oculus for its upcoming SUPERHYPERCUBE.

"In a political climate as fragile and horrifying as this one, we cannot tacitly endorse these actions by supporting Luckey or his platform," Polytron said in a statement on Pastebin.

The Daily Beast reported yesterday Luckey is a financial backer the Nimble America 501(c)4, an organization in support the Republican candidate.

In addition to Insomniac and Polytron, many other smaller developers have publicly announced their games won't support Oculus Rift, Motherboard reports.
