Have You Found the Amazing GTA 5 Sasquatch Easter Egg?

This page contains information on the Sasquatch Easter egg that took years to unearth in GTA 5. It's unlocked via special Golden Peyote Plants that will allow players to inhabit the body of a Sasquatch for a brief period.

While it was originally thought that only one of these plants was available, it now appears that there are seven - one that appears on each day of the week. Eating one of these plants and experiencing the Sasquatch hallucination will unlock the Wild Animal (Bigfoot) in Director Mode.

This special cacti have only appeared for certain players under certain conditions. While the official requirements are still unknown, here are all of the factors that have been acknowledged so far:

  • Players must have a 100% Complete game save.
(Note this does not mean having 100% in all missions)
  • Players must have completed the mission The Last One.
  • Players must not kill the Sasquatch at the end of The Last One.
  • Players must have collected all 27 peyote plants.
  • It must be between 5:00AM - 8:30 AM.
  • Weather must be fog or snow
    (Use WeatherCheats for PC / PS4 / XB1)

If players manage to locate all seven Golden Peyote plants in order, they will not only unlock the Sasquatch in Director Mode but also be able to unlock the Beast from GTA Online as well.

POSSIBLE BUG: A small number of players (including some of us here at IGN) have experienced a bug wherein a peyote plant may not have registered as being collected. This would prevent you from accessing the Sasquatch peyote. Most reports indicate that it is the plant near the lookout platform in Raton Canyon. To combat this, go to the location in question and quicksave then re-load the game.

The location of the golden peyote plant differs from day to day, though they are all in the vicinity of Raton Canyon / Alamo Sea. Here are the approximate locations of the seven Golden Peyote plants - keep in mind that all the other conditions (100%, Fog/Snow, time of day, etc) must also be met.

Between the two paths pictured above, the peyote plant sits next to a large boulder near the top of a short ridge.

Further down the main road from the first location, this next golden peyote can be found just to the south of the bend in the road. It's on a small patch of land next to the fallen tree.

Slightly to the East of the previous plant, you can grab this one by passing through the trees off the road. Head down the embankment the just past the boulder ahead of you.

In the north-west corner of the Alamo Sea, a small circular outcropping holds the fourth golden peyote - it's near the far end (from the road) near a cluster of bushes.

To the east of the Wednesday plant is another outcropping. From the road it's a large field of grass - the plant is next to the group of large shrubbery near the southern tip.

Around the halfway point in the road that runs along the north shore of the Alamo Sea is an embankment that leads down to a drainage ditch. Follow the trench north of the ditch to find the plant beneath some trees, surrounded by Wolfsbane and Lilac.

The final golden peyote can be found on a ridge overlooking the farming section of Grapeseed. Look for it where the biking trail ends, near a large clumb of bushes.

Special thanks to Reddit user rkRusty  and YouTuber GTASeriesVideos (among others) for bringing this to our attention!

After eating the seventh Golden Peyote in order (on Saturday), do not end the hallucination. Instead, use the Ctrl button / L3 to make your Sasquatch grunt or growl. In the distance, the Beast will snarl in response.

Follow the sound through the world until you find either a dead NPC (usually a hiker or park ranger), mauled animal carcass, or wrecked car. Once you find the Beast's victim, grunt again to find the Beast and repeat. Eventually this will lead you to Thompson's Scrap Yard, where you can fight the Beast.

If you manage to defeat the monster, you'll be able to use it in Director Mode - press L3+R3 / LShift+Ctrl when playing as the Wild Animal (Bigfoot) to swap to the Beast.
