Destiny: Wrath of the Machine Raid Guide

This page contains walkthrough information and strategies for the Wrath of the Machine Raid from the Rise of Iron expansion for Destiny.

The recommended Light Level for this Raid is 370, though it is possible to complete it with a lower ranking.

The first part of the Raid is much like the Vault of Glass. You need to charge and defend points before you can progress. There are three contraptions that you need to charge. To charge them, you need to stand in a voltage point. Collect four and you can run up to a charging station and "dunk" the voltage into them. However, you're on a timer. If your timer runs out, the voltage will kill you. Luckily, all your charging stations charge together. You cannot damage the Vosik's shields conventionally with your weapons.

Once they're charged up, they'll start releasing SIVA Clusters. These are bombs are what you can use to break the boss's shields. Throw them and hit him enough to bring his shields down and then you can damage his health. From there, rinse and repeat until you finish the encounter.

Watch out for Voltage Eaters! If these oversized Shanks get to your spinners, they'll drain the voltage from it.

After the fight, simply scale your way up the entrance and make your way inside.

First, split up into three groups of two. One group goes to the centre, one to the right side, and one to the left. The encounter starts when someone walks into the centre of the room on the middle platform. Make sure all players are aware of the four rooms that they can enter; two on the left and two on the right. You may also select one player to callout which room is lit up and where you'll all go, but if you're fast enough, this can be done all together. However, giving one person the say will help things run smoother.

Once you're split into the groups, you can start the encounter. Vosik, like before, will have shields that you cannot damage with your weapons. Fight the Fallen that come out for a bit and a cluster will be dropped in each of the three areas a team is in, either in the back, middle, or far end of the sides/centre.

One person from each of the three groups will have to pick up the SIVA cluster. One of those three should also be the person who counts down to when you throw the clusters at Vosiks. Throw them within a short timeframe from each other, easily done if you all throw them at once, and you should take down about a third of his shields. For the most part, the first one that hits will do about 1,000 damage but the following two will do over 100,000. So long as you get his shields down 1/3, you're fine. Even if you don't, there is no enrage time (at least on Normal) so you can take your time to do it.

On the rounds when you throw the clusters but his shields don't break, one of the screens behind him will start showing SIVA-Fallen iconography. Shoot that screen until it breaks. If you do not, Vosik will unleash a powerful attack that kills all of you.

Once you've broken his shields, meet up in the middle and damage him. Getting someone to tether him with a Shadowshot will help a great deal. As you damage him, more clusters will be dropped. When they drop, the person or people elected to look for the room that get lit up should start looking around. Decide on a single room to go to and the entire team needs to get into there. Then, shoot the lock by the door. If someone might not make it, close the door. It's not worth the risk when you can revive them on Normal.

In summary:

  1. Kill enemies
  2. Throw SIVA Clusters at Vosik
  3. Shoot SIVA screen  (Repeat 1, 2, & 3 until shields break; skip 3 when shields are broken)
  4. Damage Vosik
  5. Hide in a side room and use the shield door
  6. Repeat until he's dead

This part is both a race against time and a fight to the death. Fight your way to the wall at the opposite side from the Siege Engine until it starts coming at you. From here, we suggest that one to three people, especially people who can deal high damage, take out any Dregs with firearms. Don't worry too much about ones with shock daggers since you can quickly get out of their way. The other people on your team should jump onto the box on the right of the wall when facing it. The other people can either jump onto that when needed or any of the other debris. While on the box, it's a good idea to use an invisibility smoke grenade that a Nightstalker has so that the Skiffs don't shoot you.

To slow and make the Siege Engine less of a risk, first shoot it's two turrets. Once they break off, shoot it's core. Once that blows, you'll be able to jump onto it and ride it as it smashes through the wall.

Once it slows or stops, you can jump off and make your way to the next wall. The choice is yours if you want all of your team to go to the next wall or if you want a person to stand back. We recommend that a Nightstalker with an invisibility grenade stays behind while the rest go forward to kill all the enemies, especially the Fallen Captain, but leave the Captain for last. Make sure you destroy the turrets of the Skiff so that it doesn't wipe out your team. If someone stays back on the Siege Engine, they can help with this by using a sniper or rocket launcher.

Once you kill the Captain, the Skiff will drop three parts that will repair the Siege Engine. At this time, if someone was still on the Siege Engine, they should run up the left side (when facing the wall) and trigger as many of the Fallen web-traps so that the rest of the team can move without being slowed. Make sure to use an invisibility smoke grenade before you get too close to the Skiff that flies in or you'll be shot by it.

To repair the Siege Engine, you need to bring all three of the pieces onto it up a staircase that will lower from the right side (when facing it). However, each Guardian can only carry the very heavy parts for a few seconds before they drop them and have to wait a bit before they can pick them back up. The idea here is that when one Guardian drops a part, another picks it up. It's very beneficial to have a Nightstalker or two to tether the enemies as you walk back to the Siege Engine so that they are slowed. A Titan with Fist of Havoc or a Warlock with a Nova Bomb or Stormtrance are also good to clear large groups of enemies.

The main challenge here is that if you don't repair the Siege Engine fast enough, the core will explode and kill everyone. We suggest that you stick to the left (when facing it) and cross over the narrow rails shortly after you get the parts. Make sure not to fall down into the trenches as it takes longer to get through that way and enemies can pour into them. Additionally, each piece goes into a specific place on the Siege Engine. The one that looks like a warhead goes under the main central section, the one that is more oval-shaped goes on the right side (when walking onto the Siege Engine/facing it) and the cubic ones goes in the last spot on the left side (when facing the Siege Engine). As the carriers are going on, make sure the others defend them and take out the enemies on the Siege Engine.

Once you get it going again, ride it out until it reaches the end of the road. Then, jump off and stick the landing!
