During today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo said it would release Animal Crossing Welcome amiibo, a version of New Leaf that includes the upcoming fall update, along with a new set of amiibo cards. The company plans to detail all the new features of the big update in a future mini-direct.
Players can download New Leaf’s update via the eShop, or pickup a new version of the game called Animal Crossing: Welcome amiibo. This version includes an amiibo card from the new set as a bonus.
Nintendo said it will release 50 new Animal Crossing amiibo cards on December 2. Each card features a new villager not yet seen in Animal Crossing New Leaf, along with the interior design of that villager’s mobile home.
The company offered scant details about the update itself, but said that it would add support for Animal Crossing’s amiibo cards along with a few other new features. The update will work with some other amiibo figures, but Nintendo did not specify which will and won’t be compatible just yet.
Nintendo appears to be just scratching the surface of this update and said it would explain the additional features, as well as detail its amiibo functionality, during an Animal Crossing Mini-Direct later this Fall. In Japan, Nintendo announced the Animal Crossing Mini-Direct for November 2. We'll update this story when a date is announced for the US version of the presentation.
