Amazon Studios has greenlit a third season of The Man in the High Castle, which is due for release later this year.
This news comes via Variety, which reports Eric Overmyer will be taking over from Frank Spotnitz as showrunner and executive producer. Overmyer has worked on the likes of Bosch, and also has writing and producing credits on shows such as Law & Order and The Wire.
Season 2 of Man in the High Castle premiered on December 16 last year, and Amazon says the most viewers registered over its debut weekend than all of its other original shows so far.
“Eric and his team are doing an incredible job crafting stories about the inner lives of those who struggle to do good in a world that is not," said Joe Lewis, head of comedy and drama at Amazon Studios.
The Man in the High Castle is an alternate history series based on the novel by Philip K. Dick, set in a version of the United States after the Axis Powers won World War II. The show stars Stephen Root, Alexa Davalos, Tate Donovan, Sebastian Roche, Rupert Evans, DJ Qualls, Luke Kleintank, Joal De La Fuente, Callum Keith Rennie, Bella Heathcote, and Brennan Brown.
