New Movie Franchise Coming from Deadpool Creator

Includes characters such as Bloodwulf, Kaboom, Bloodstrike, Brigade, Lethal, Re-Gex, Nitro-Gen, and Cybrid.

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld is partnering with Shangai-based Fundamental Films to develop an Extreme Universe movie franchise.

Extreme Universe consists of several comics published by Liefeld's Extreme Studios that are all set in a single universe. There are a total of nine comic book titles that include characters such as Bloodwulf, Kaboom, Bloodstrike, Brigade, Lethal, Re-Gex, Nitro-Gen, and Cybrid. They're all written in a similar subversive style as Deadpool, the character that Ryan Reynolds' and Fox turned into the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever.

The Wrap reports that Liefeld, who's also credited with creating Marvel's Cable and X-Force, will produce the films along with Brooklyn Weaver (Extant, Run All Night), Graham King (Allied, Tomb Raider), and Akiva Goldsman (The Dark Tower), with Goldsman in charge of the scripts and writers room for the entire franchise.

Fundamental Films is currently one of China's biggest film companies and is working with director Luc Besson on the upcoming sci-fi film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which hits theaters July 21, 2017.

Deadpool 2 will see David Leitch (John Wick) take over for Tim Miller as director, and a third film featuring X-Force is reportedly already in the planning stages.
