Arrested Development: Season 5 Could Be Greenlit Soon

"We are close."

A fifth season of Arrested Development may be greenlit very soon, according to executive producer Brian Grazer.

"We are close," Grazer told Deadline at the Television Critics Association press tour, adding that he thinks Season 5 will officially be greenlit "within a couple of weeks at the most."

While working around the busy schedules of the cast has taken time, Grazer believes they've come up with a plan that will work. "I think we found a way to create the compensation structure for all the actors and create a work matrix so they can still make movies and do other things and it will all integrate," he said.

Last year, Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz said a fifth season will "definitely happen." He also offered a status update on Season 5 back in July, saying that filming may begin in early 2017.

Hurwitz has previously said the season may take the form of a murder-mystery, in the style of Netflix's Making a Murderer.
