Jurassic World Dominates with $500 Million Opening Weekend


Chomping and stomping its way to box office infamy, Jurassic World took in $511.8 million dollars around the world this weekend, setting the record for biggest global opening of all time.

This is the first time a movie has grossed more than a half a billion dollars in one weekend, notes The Wrap - the previous record for a global opening weekend was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with $483.2 million. Directed by Colin Tevrorrow, and starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, Jurassic World was number one in all 66 markets it debuted, which includes the United Kingdom, China, Russia, Australia and Mexico.
