A 10-year-old bug in Team Fortress 2 has finally been patched.
According to Reddit user sigsegv, the bug in question was caused when players joined a server and picked a certain class. Should the player decide to switch to other classes, the player’s hit-box, severside, goes screwy, which in turn breaks hit-detection.
Here's a video of the nefarious bug in action.
The only way to fix this bug was to harakiri and respawn, meaning most users may have missed the problem and assumed lag was the problem when they got headshotted despite moving past the path of the bullet.
Over on the Team Fortress 2 website, Valve has said this problem has now been rectified, some ten-years post-release.
“Fixed an animation bug that would cause the client and server hitboxes to become out of sync,” reads the patch notes.
If you’re a fan of Valve’s PC offerings, did you know Dota 2 recently passed a major milestone? It’s true. The free-to-play MOBA has now seen over 3 billion lobbies created since its launch.
