Universal has announced that a new movie in The Purge franchise is in the works.
The fourth film in the series, which is untitled for now, will open in theaters in July, 2018. The core creative team behind the past three films is returning, including creator James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed the entire franchise thus far. However, DeMonaco will only be penning the script this time around, as he's working with producers to bring in a new director.
Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, and Sébastien K. Lemercier are producing once again. There are currently no details about the plot or cast for this fourth film, and whether or not Frank Grillo will return to play Leo Barnes.
Read why IGN thought the last film in the series, The Purge: Election Year, is "completely engrossing" and "the best entry yet in the thriller franchise."
