5 Things to do First in Halo Wars 2

Halo Wars 2 throws a lot of activities and mechanics at your right off the bat. There's something for every RTS fan, but here are a few things to do first in Halo Wars 2.

EditPlay the Campaign and Reap the Rewards

Sounds pretty obvious, right? For some, they'll skip the campaign and jump right into the multiplayer, which is fine, but they'll be missing out on the mission packs you get.

If Blitz is your game, then you'll need Blitz cards, and not playing the campaign will result in your missing out on a lot of free card packs. Additionally, the campaign will teach you just about every single mechanic in the game, so it's always good to brush up on your handiwork in action.

Still having difficulty with the mechanics? Check out the in-game Tutorial for a more hands-on guide.

This one is mainly for people on PC, but people using a control on either platform should also check up on the Advanced Controls in the Controller menu.

There are a lot of controls in Halo Wars 2 and even more options with a keyboard. However, some of them might not seem very obvious at first. Check the controls because even something like rotating your screen isn't as obvious as you may assume.

Beyond that, learing how to make set groups can really give you an edge against other leaders in the matchmaking modes.

Without a prompt, you might not realise that you probably have a couple packs waiting for you. If you played the Beta, got the Ultimate Edition of the game, or have even just been playing through the campaign non-store, head over to the Blitz menu and see if you have any packs to open.

This may only be available for a limited time, but Sergeant Forge's DLC is currently available to all players. Head on over to Xbox.com and get the license for it.

Sergeant Forge was a protagonist from the previous game. He is a determined commander who can turn the tide of any battle.

Nothing is more annoying than jumping into a game that's on a map you've never played before. While most maps in Halo Wars 2 are easy to get a hang of, there's no reason not to jump into a Skirmish match with either a friend or an AI (set it to Easy) to look around the maps for things like energy drops and defensible positions.

While doing this, make sure to turn off the Fog of War option in the Skirmish settings.
