The Nintendo Switch features several different ways of playing your favorite games. One of the main ways to play includes the use of the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controllers.

Nintendo released additional details on the Joy-Con Controllers during the January 12 Nintendo Switch Presentation.
- Each Joy-Con Controller's analog stick can be pressed like a button.
- Joy-Con Controllers include an NFC feature that can read and write Amiibo data.
- The square Capture Button on the L Joy-Con can capture screenshots of gameplay, which can be shared over social media. In the future (undefined), it will be able to capture and share video as well.
- Each Joy-Con Controllers include accelerometers and gyro sensors for motion-control play.
- An "HD" rumble system built into the Joy-Con controllers can emulate certain sensations, such as shaking a glass full of ice, or filling that glass with water.
- The R Controller has a motion-IR camera that senses shape, motion and distance of objects in front of it. It can tell the difference between rock, paper and scissors and it can tell how far away the hand is.
- Joy-Con Controllers are available in different colors, initially in the standard grey, neon red, and neon blue.
- Wrist straps, included with the Nintendo Switch console, add more prominent L and R buttons to the Joy-Con Controllers
Each Switch console will come with both the Joy-Con L and Joy-Con R Controllers, which can be used in conjunction with the Joy-Con Grip Controller to form a more traditional controller system - with a space in the middle.
This middle space can either include a blank slate for playing in conjunction with the television, or users can insert the Switch screen that fits between the Joy-Con Controllers for playing on the go.
In addition, the Nintendo Switch screen can be set up independently of the Joy-Con Controllers using a kickstand, known as "Table Top Mode," and one or more users can use the Joy-Con Controllers - either one in both hands, or using a single Joy-Con Controller to play with friends, as each Joy-Con Controller is nearly identical (both R and L sides includes an analog control stick, four buttons, a trigger and shoulder button) and can be used as an individual controller.
EditJoy-Con Battery Life and Charger
According to a Nintendo representative, the battery life of the Joy-Con Controllers are about 20 hours.
Each of the Joy-Con controllers can be charged by inserting them in a purchasable Joy-Con Charging Grip (shown below), leaving them attached to the docked Switch, or by plugging in a charging cable.
Colored Wrist Straps - Standard grey wrist straps are included with the Nintendo Switch, but neon red and neon blue wrist straps will be available eventually. The colored straps were shown off during the Nintendo Switch event.
Joy-Con Wheel - The Joy-Con can be inserted into a plastic wheel for racing games. The Joy-Con Wheel is listed at $14.99 USD and comes in a set of two - one for each Joy-Con.
