The Surprise Horror Twist to Netflix's Santa Clarita Diet

Suddenly things get interesting.

Netflix's new comedy series starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant hasn't sounded particularly remarkable...until now.

USA Today has revealed that the titular diet is in fact, cannibalism, and Drew Barrymore's character Sheila Hammond slowly begins to feel the hunger pangs after she dies in the first episode.

Surprise!

It's a twist that will presumably throw lives of Shelia and her husband Joe (Olyphant) - a married couple of realtors living in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita - into a tailspin. Alongside that particular challenge, USA Today also reveals the pair will have to contend with rival agents (one of whom will be played by Nathan Fillion), their teenage daughter Abby (Liv Hewson) and 'neighboring cops and their wives'. Not easy when you're dead.

The Santa Clarita Diet will debut on Netflix February 3.
