Marvel Comics is adapting Rogue One: A Star Wars Story into a six-part miniseries that includes story content that didn't make it into the final movie.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the series will debut in April. Jody Houser is writing the comic with illustrations by Emilio Laiso.
Speaking to EW, Houser confirmed the series "will definitely expand on what was seen in both Rogue One the film and the novelization." She noted that director Gareth Edwards "had a bunch of ideas for extra scenes and character moments that didn’t make it into the film," and she's "having a lot of fun playing around with those."
With regard to the film's cast of characters, Houser said she found the three-person team of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed) and Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) especially fascinating. "You have the new convert, the lapsed believer, and the life-long devout thrown together to work for a common goal," she explained. "That's a dynamic I'm excited to explore further."
A novel based on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, written by Alexander Freed, released last month and features "new scenes and expanded material." Additionally, Rogue One: Catalyst, a prequel book by James Luceno, released in November.
