Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Is Coming to Nintendo Switch

The deluxe edition is coming this spring.

Nintendo confirmed that the Wii U's Mario Kart 8 is making its way to the Nintendo Switch in the form of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which will launch this April.

The Deluxe edition of the game features all of the content from the Wii U version of the game, as well as all DLC tracks and characters. Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy from Splatoon, King Boo, Dry Bones, and Bowser Jr. will all be available as new characters, too. Battle Mode has also been updated to include Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Blast, including new courses like Urchin Underpass and Battle Stadium, as well as returning ones, such as Gamecube Luigi's Mansion and SNES Battle Course 1.

Gameplay for Mario Kart on the Switch was first shown in Nintendo's first trailer for the new console. In it IGN spotted King Boo was a playable character and an altered item system, which Nintendo has confirmed — players can now carry two items at once. Items returning from previous Mario Kart games, like Boo and the Feather, will also be included.

Lastly, Nintendo revealed a Smart Steering feature, intended to make controlling cars easier for new players.

IGN appreciated Mario Kart 8's creativity and gave it a 9.0 in the review.
