Bill Hader Hitman-Turned-Actor Comedy Series Set for 2018


Henry Winkler and Stephen Root will also star in the series.

HBO announced at the Television Critics Association press tour today that the new comedy series Barry will begin production this spring.

Barry stars Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live, Trainwreck) in the title role, a hitman who follows a target to their acting class – only to become so intrigued by his time there that he decides to change his life and become an actor.

Hader co-created Barry with Alec Berg (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Silicon Valley) aand will direct episodes of the series. Barry also stars Stephen Root (Office Space, The Man in the High Castle), Sarah Goldberg (Hindsight), Glenn Fleshler (True Detective), Anthony Carrigan (Gotham) and Henry Winkler (Arrested Development).

The first season will consist of eight episodes that will debut sometime in 2018 on HBO. In the meantime, Hader will be heard as the voice of Alpha 5 in Power Rangers, opening in March.
