The Rook, a new spy thriller series executive produced by Twilight Saga creator Stephenie Meyer, is coming to Starz.
According to the network's announcement at the Television Critics Association press tour, the series is being produced by a partnership between Lionsgate and Liberty Global, with Stephen Garrett serving as showrunning executive producer.
The Rook tells the story of a young woman with special abilities who wakes up in London with amnesia to find herself being chased by a paranormal threat. As she struggles with her unique abilities, she must fight to uncover her past.
Writers Sam Holcroft (Rules for Living) and Al Muriel (Precious & Rich) are adapting and co-producing The Rook, which is based on Daniel O’Malley's novel of the same name.
"To be conspiring on The Rook in partnership with Stephenie based on a book that is as dazzling as it is surprising and working with the talented team of Sam and Al, is the perfect springboard for thrilling television," Garrett said. "The teams at Lionsgate, Starz and Liberty Global are great champions of creativity, and we’re looking forward to partnering with them."
The Rook will debut on Starz in the United States in 2018, with Liberty Global featuring the show on demand in Europe, the Caribbean and Lain America, and Lionsgate handling worldwide distribution.
