This article discusses events previewed in a promo for Game of Thrones Season 7 episode 4, "The Spoils of War." If you don't wish to know what is coming ahead based on what is released by HBO, read on at your own risk.
Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) paid Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) a visit in Highgarden in "The Queen's Justice" and if the promo for Season 7's fourth episode "The Spoils of War" is any indication, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) isn't too happy about what transpired.
The promo for the fourth episode, which aired at the end of "The Queen's Justice," features a very frustrated Dany who fears she's losing the war thanks to the recent loss of some of her allies.
Could the way things went down at Casterly Rock and Highgarden be causing her to question the guidance of Tyrion (Peter Dinklage)? In the promo we see her say "enough with the clever plans," which is likely directed at Tyrion and harkens back to Olenna's warning to Dany in "Stormborn" about trusting clever men.
At the very end of the episode we are treated to brief shot of Dany soaring the skies, potentially taking matters into her own hands.
We also get a brief shot of Gwendoline Christie's Brienne back in action, as well as what appears to be Arya (Maisie Williams) approaching Winterfell. Perhaps Arya's reunion with Nymeria didn't cause her to change her plans to return to Winterfell after all.
After exacting her revenge on Ellaria (Indira Varma) by killing her daughter, Cersei (Lena Headey) continues her plan to reconquer all of Westeros, and in the promo we see her enlisting the aid of the Iron Bank of Braavos.
We also get a brief glimpse of Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), who finally arrives on shore after fleeing during Euron's (Pilou Asbæk) naval assault. Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) also appears to be feeling the pressure of leading Winterfell in Jon's absence, and it looks like Bronn (Jerome Flynn), Jaime and his Lannister forces are preparing for another battle.
While you patiently wait for next week's episode, find out what Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff had to say about Jaime's strategic decision in "The Queen's Justice."
