StarCraft: Remastered Gets a Release Date

Rolling out on August 14.

StarCraft: Remastered will be released on August 14, and will cost $14.99 USD / £12.99.

The updated version of the classic RTS brings together the original game and its Brood War expansion, adding improved looks, 4K resolution support, improved multiplayer support, and modern features such as stat tracking and cloud saving. That said, if you want the 1998 experience, you can switch back at any time.

The game will also be compatible with those who still play the original versions (which are available for free), allowing for multiplayer between generations of the game.

Pre-ordering the game will get you three building skins, while anyone who buys it will receive a new co-op commander, Alexei Stukov and three player portraits for StarCraft 2.

Despite being released before IGN covered PC games, we loved StarCraft so much that we reviewed it in the year 2000 anyway.

Joe Skrebels is IGN's UK News Editor, and he is bad at Zerg, but won't play as anyone else. Follow him on Twitter.
