Updated: List of New Pokemon Go Pokemon

New Pokemon in Pokemon Go arrive in a variety of ways, including in special Events and Updates. Below is a history of the new Pokemon added to Pokemon Go.

Niantic and The Pokemon Company announced on February 15, 2017 that more than 80 new Pokemon from Generation Two--Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver--would begin to appear “later this week.”

It's assumed the Legendary Pokemon won't appear in the wild, but will be obtainable through Events in the future.

This update also includes new Evolutionary Items and Berries with different effects.

See a list of the new Pokemon Go Pokemon to be available soon below.

The Johto Holiday Update brought with it several new Pokemon (many of which we're still discovering) including Pikachu wearing a festive hat.

Trainers can catch the holiday Pikachu like another Pokemon. Niantic announed that the Pikachu in the holiday hat will have a higher frequency rate than normal Pikachu. The special Pikachu is available from December 12 to December 29 at 11AM PT. If you evolve the Pikachu with the hat, the Raichu keeps the hat.

Where to Find Santa Hat Pikachu

The other new Johto Pokemon don't have an event end date, but unlike the Pikachu, you can't catch them. You have to hatch them. So far six new Johto baby Pokemon have been confirmed with one new evolution.

  • Eggs are still being confirmed, but these distances have been collected by TheSilphRoad Reddit.

Once you catch or attempt to catch a holiday Pikachu you'll be able to go to your Pokedex and view the baby Pokemon silhouettes when looking at the evolved forms.

IGN is still working to confirm whether or not you can hatch eggs that have been in your inventory before Update 1.19.1 or if you need to get new eggs from Pokestops. It seems like trainers have had the best luck with new eggs.

Though Pokemon Go launched with many of the original 150 Pokmeon, Ditto was left out. It wasn't until x that Ditto was finally found in the game on November 22, 2016.

Ditto disguises itself as low-tier Pokemon. For tips on catching a Ditto and more on its combat moves, be sure to reach Ditto's Pokedex entry.
