The following items can be found in the Pokemon Go Shop and purchased with Pokecoins. Those that can also be found at PokeStops are noted.
Poke Balls are a trainer's main tool, and are used to try and capture Pokemon. You'll be given 50 to start with, and you can either find more by interacting with PokeStops, leveling up, or purchasing them from the Shop in batches of 20, 100, or 200 in exchange for PokeCoins.Incense can be used to lure Pokemon out of hiding and increase the rate at which you can find Pokemon hiding in the wild for at least 30 minutes of use. To begin you'll be given two Incense, and more can be bought from the Store in a batch of either 1, 8, or 25 in exchange for PokeCoins.
The Egg Incubator is used in Egg Hatching for the Pokemon Eggs you can find in the wild in such places like visiting PokeStops. When an Egg is placed in an Egg Incubator, the player must travel a certain distance tracked by the phone's GPS before the egg will hatch. Only one incubator is given at the start of the game and can be used as many times as needed, but more fragile versions to incubate multiple eggs can be bought in the Store or gained from leveling that will break after 3 uses.
Lucky Eggs, unlike regular Pokemon Eggs, are used as consumables that increase your overall experience gain by double the amount for a period of 30 minutes. You can purchase them on the Shop in batches of 1, 8, or 25 in exchange for PokeCoins.
A Lure Module is a more sophisticated version of incense that attracts Pokemon to a particular PokeStop for a period of 30 minutes. Not only is it more effective, but it also targets the PokeStop not just for the player, but all players interacting with the PokeStop during that period! It can be bought from the Shop in groups of either 1 or 8 in exchange for PokeCoins.
Your Bag is where you store all of your non-Pokemon Items, which include Pokeballs and the like. To start with, your bag can fit up to 350 different items (including your camera and incubator). To get more space for your bag, you need to buy a Bag Upgrade from the Shop to fit 50 more items per upgrade.
Your Pokemon Storage is where you keep all of the Pokemon and Pokemon Eggs you find in your travels. When you begin the game, your Pokemon Storage can hold up to 250 different Pokemon, and 9 Pokemon Eggs. In order to hold more in storage, you need to buy a Pokemon Storage Upgrade from the Shop to fit 50 more Pokemon per upgrade.
Not all items in Pokemon Go can be purchased. In fact, many of the most useful can only be obtained at PokeStops. Here's what you can find in Pokemon Go.
Revive and Max Revive
Revive will help a fainted Pokemon recover with half of its maximum HP. If you grab a Max Revive, the Pokemon will get all of its HP back. Note that Pokemon can only faint in Gym Battles againt opposing gym teams. Training against your own will never result in fainted Pokemon.
Revives can be found at PokeStops after the trainer has reached level 5, and a few are given each level as rewards.
Restore your Pokemon back to health after battling at the gyms with Potions. Each potion type is unlocked at a different level. Potions can start being found in PokeStops after level 5, and will also be given as the trainer increases in level. Super Potions will start appearing in PokeStops after level 10, and will also be given as level 10+ rewards.
- Potion - Restores HP by 20 points.
- Super Potion - Restores HP by 50 points.
- Hyper Potion - Restores HP by 200 Points.
At launch, Pokemon Go included one type of berry that could be used before catching a pokemon. With the February 2017 update, more Berries are being added to the game, to help with new encounter gameplay. All Berries can be found at Pokestops.
Feed Razz Berries to Pokemon you're trying to catch and it'll be easier to catch on your next throw. Razz Berries begin appearing at PokeStops after Level 8, and a few are given as level rewards for every level after.
Feed a Pinap Berry to a Pokemon, and it will double the amount of candy a trainer can earn if they succeed in catching the Pokemon on their next throw attempt. If the Pokeball misses or the Pokemon breaks free, you will have to use another Pinap Berry before trying again if you still want to get the extra candy.
Feed a Nanab Berry to a Pokemon, and it will slow the movements of the Pokemon. With the new encounter gameplay, this will be extremely useful for very active and moving pokemon who may be too fast for your Pokeballs to land.
Great Balls and Ultra Balls
Once you reach the appropriate levels, you'll unlock access to Great Balls and Ultra Balls. Unlike the standard Poke Balls, these Poke Balls cannot be purchased in the shop but will be given to you as a reward for leveling up. You can also get them randomly at PokeStops.
Great Balls will start appearing after level 12 in both level rewards and PokeStops. Ultra Balls will start appearing after level 20 in both level rewards and PokeStops.
