Next Pokemon Go Event Gives Pikachu a 'Festive Party Hat'

Celebrating Pokemon Day in style.

In celebration of Pokemon Day next week, Niantic Labs is holding a special event in Pokemon Go where players can capture a party hat-wearing Pikachu.

As revealed on the official Pokemon website, the event begins on February 26 at 1pm PT/4pm ET/9pm UK (February 23 8am AET) and concludes on March 6 at the same time of day. During that time, any Pikachu found in the wild will be sporting a "festive party hat," which will remain attached to the creature forever.

Pokemon Day takes place on February 27, and commemorates the series' debut, which is marked by the launch of Pokemon Red and Green in Japan on February 27, 1996.

Niantic Labs held a similar event last year during the holiday season, which outfitted wild Pikachu with a Santa hat for a limited time.

Earlier this month, 80 new Pokemon from the Johto region were added to Pokemon Go. Head of to our detailed Pokemon Go wiki guide for an overview of all the game's new evolution items and Pokemon evolutions.
