New Line of Pokemon Mega Bloks Revealed

Featuring Pikachu, Charizard and other Kanto region creatures.

New Pokemon toys are on the way, as the popular creature-collecting franchise has joined Mattel's line of re-branded toy sets, Mega Construx.

As reported by Kotaku, Pokemon from the Kanto region will be featured in the upcoming Mega Construx sets, including fan favorites like Pikachu and Charizard. The first sets will release in North America sometime this summer.

Mega Bloks was recently split into two different lines, with Bloks-branded goods now geared specifically toward young children, and Construx sets designed to appeal to older kids and collectors.

"We bring only the highest quality Pokémon experiences to our fans around the world and Mega Brands' attention to detail and thoughtful creativity with Mega Construx is sure to delight kids as well as the most passionate Pokémon trainers," The Pokémon Company International VP of marketing Colin Palmer said in a press release.

Last year, the Pokemon franchise celebrated its 20th anniversary with the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon for 3DS, as well as the mobile phenomenon Pokemon Go, which just added 80 new Pokemon from the Johto region this week.

Mattel will showcase its upcoming Pokemon Mega Construx in New York this weekend at Toy Fair 2017. The company also just recently revealed its new line of Halo toys, which includes figures based on characters from Halo Wars 2.
