Today at DICE 2017, Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann shared a few new story details about Telltale's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy adventure series, saying it will explore the space-traveling crew's relationship as a family and how it could be torn apart.
"We are really taking it seriously and focusing on each character," Rosemann explained during his talk, titled "World Building the Marvel Way." To do this, the game will take explore the questions: "Who are they? What do they want? How are they a family? What could tear that family apart?”
A plot synopsis of the five-part episodic series was revealed last month, confirming the game will deliver "a brand new story" centered around Star-Lord and his pals, who "discover an artifact of unspeakable power."
Rosemann also briefly touched on the upcoming Spider-Man title that Insomniac Games is developing for PS4, highlighting the "personal" investment Marvel and Insomniac have in the project. "It’s very personal for us," he said of the project. "We are going to focus our life’s journey into this game, to celebrate him with the world."
Marvel has big plans for video games in the months and years ahead. Just a few weeks ago, the company announced a partnership with Square Enix to create new interactive experiences based on Marvel's beloved franchises, the first of which will be an Avengers game developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.
