After working on a number of games at Valve, writer Erik Wolpaw has left the studio.
News of Wolpaw's departure comes by way of former Valve scriptwriter Marc Laidlaw, who posted on Twitter: "Wolpaw left Valve so I can now insult him freely without damaging the company's reputation. He's a comic genius and a true original."
Shortly thereafter, Wolpaw took to Twitter to confirm that Jay Pinkerton, who co-wrote Portal 2 with Wolpaw, hasn't left the company, saying, "Pinkerton's still at Valve! Stop sending him concerned emails!"
In addition to his work on the Portal series, Wolpaw wrote Half-Life 2: Episode One and Episode 2, and is credited as co-writer on Left 4 Dead.
Last month, Valve founder Gabe Newell confirmed Valve is still working on single-player games and said it's possible we may see a new IP in the Half-Life/Portal universe. Additionally, Newell revealed just last week that the company is currently working on three "full games" for VR.
