The game mode Blitz is all about building a successful deck that can take on any other deck. While it may sound like a daunting task, it's very possible. Let us show you how to make one.
When building a deck, you need to keep two things (or people) in mind: Your Leader and yourself. The leader for your deck structures it to have its own unique cards. You, on the other hand, have your own favoured play-styles that may or may not line up with a given leader. Test things out, read this guide, and look through their cards to find out which you think is best for you.
Another key to building your deck, on top of not having too many powerful or weak cards, is to have a healthy mix of the different types of cards and cards that can, respectively, combat different types. Just having ground vehicles and infantry will make you vulnerable to aeiral vehicles without the proper support cards and anti-air units, so keep that in mind.
Each leader has their own unique damage power, support card, and units. However, a bulk of every army will be made up of the same UNSC or Banished units. It's how you mix the unique units and the general units that will be the focus of your deck.
You can generally tell the purpose of a leader based on their unique cards. Below are our categorizations of the leaders for your convenience, though these are not official. Click on a leader's name to be taken to their entry.
Once you've decided where you fit into the spectrum of leaders, check out out recommendations for building their decks below! Please note that these are not all the cards a given leader can use, but simply our recommendations.
- Cards in Bold are our strongest recommendations.
- Cards in Italics should be limited from 1-3 per deck.
The UNSC leaders are human leaders from Earth and its colonies. All are part of the UNSC in some form and have extensive experience in the field and commanding forces.
Cutter is the main UNSC offensive leader. With him, you'll want to focus on having units that can take on any types of enemies and a general balance to your deck. Here are our recommendations for cards in his deck.
Infantry: Hellbringers, Marines, Cyclops, Extractor Marines, Reactive Cyclops, Jerome-092
Ground Vehicles: Jackrabbit, Wolverine, Warthog, Vanguard Wolverine, Scorpion, Stealth Kodiak, Lockdown Scorpion
Air Vehicles: Nightingale, Hornet, Trooper Hornet, Vulture
Powers: ODST Drop, Archer Missiles, Double Time, Close Air Support, Condor Strike
Isabel is the UNSC support leader. She is great for backing up other leaders and assisting them with her powers. For her deck, it's better to focus on cards that will help allied units rather than ones that will be the vanguard of an assault.
Infantry: Marines, Cyclops, Extractor Marines, Sniper
Ground Vehicles: Wolverine, Warthog, Wild Jackrabbit, Armored Warthog, Kodiak, Scorpion
Air Vehicles: Nightingale, Hornet, Vulture
Powers: Holo-Decoy, Shrapnel Mines, Mac Blast, Ghost in the Machine, Alice-130
EditProfessor Anders - Defence - Starting Army Suggestion: Tactician
Anders is your go to for building defences quickly for the UNSC. She starts off with more more units than other UNSC leaders and can build quickly, too.
Infantry: Marines, Cyclops, Extractor Marines, Reactive Cyclops, Armored Marines, Douglas-042
Ground Vehicles: Wolverine, Warthog
Air Vehicles: Aggressor Sentinel, Nightingale, Protector Sentinel
Powers: Advanced Optics, Watchtower, Restoration Drones, Ark Defense
Like Captain Cutter, Forge is an offensive leader, but his offensive focus is in leading the charge. He is best suited for being the spearpoint of any attack while other leaders support him. He's the kind of leader to get into the fight and lead his troops into battle.
Infantry: Hellbringers, Marines, Cyclops, Reactive Cyclops, Reactive Marines, Veteran Cyclops
Ground Vehicles: Jackrabbit, Wolverine, Warthog, Vanguard Wolverine, Veteran Jackrabbit, Kodiak, Scorpion, Vanguard Kodiak, Trooper Warthog, Grizzly, Lockdown Scorpion
Air Vehicles: Nightingale, Hornet, Vulture
Powers: Pelican Transport, Heavy Metal, Scatter Bomb, Combat Salvage, Forge's Warthog, Condor Strike
The Banished leaders are ex-Covenant leaders who have betrayed their former allies. However, that does not make them a friend of the UNSC by any extent. They kill both with pleasure.
The leader of the Banished, Atriox is a ruthless fighter with a battle-hardened attitude. Nothing breaks him since he'd likely break it first. Elites, Spartans, Brutes. It makes no matter. He'll defeat anyone who stands in his way. With a formidable attacking force, his defensive force is even more impressive and extremely hard to break through.
Infantry: Grunts, Elite Rangers, Hunters, Assault Elites, Grunt Mob, Ironclad Hunters, Suicide Grunts, Atriox's Chosen
Ground Vehicles: Locust, Bloodfuel Locust, Reaver, Marauder, Wraith, Ironclad Wraith
Air Vehicles: Engineer, Banshee, Blisterback, Enduring Blisterback
Powers: Shockwave, Atriox's Bulwark, Spike Turret, Eradication, Scarab Assault
Decimus is the Banished's main assault leader. He plows through enemies and keeps the attacks coming. Other leaders should focus on backing up his armies and supporting them.
Infantry: Jump Pack Brutes, Bloodfuel Grunts, Elite Rangers, Hunters, Assault Elites, Grunt Mob, Warlord
Ground Vehicles: Reaver, Terror Chopper, Marauder, Marauder Warchief, Wraith, Blisterback, Ironclad Wraith
Air Vehicles: Engineer, Banshee
Powers: Blast Hammer, Vortex, Siphon Field, Boundless Fury, Scarab Assault
The Shipmaster is the Banished support leader. With his starting army Scout, you can quickly take over distant hold points with your Ghosts and start to reinforce your allies.
Infantry: Grunts, Elite Rangers, Hunters, Assault Elites, Grunt Mob, Suicide Grunts, Honor Guard
Ground Vehicles: Ghost, Locust, Reaver, Marauder, Prowling Reaver, Wraith, Prowling Marauder
Air Vehicles: Engineer, Banshee, Unstable Banshee
