Below is a list of helpful information about For Honor that you won't find out about in the game.

Here is important information that everyone should know when they are playing the Story Mode of For Honor. Knowing these facts will help you get the most out of your experience, and the most rewards you can obtain playing through the Story Mode.

Both the Story Mode and online Multiplayer levels and rankings are counted as two separate entities. You can not level up the Heroes that you play as online in multiplayer by playing through Story Mode. In order to gain Reputation levels or extra levels for a given Hero, you need to play more multiplayer matches.

Playing Story Mode helps you level up your Story Level, which opens up the kinds of Feats you can use in story missions. You can replay story missions and gain more Story Mode XP to level up Feats and unlock newer ones.

You can always go back into Story Mode missions and search for collectibles you may have missed the first time. All of the Observables and Breakables are not missable in all missions, and can be found on any difficulty. If you decide to play through Story Mode on Normal difficulty and miss anything, you can always find it again on your subsequent playthroughs on any difficulty.

Nothing changes about the collectibles on harder difficulties, you still gain steel and can obtain the Hooligan and Lore Master Achievements/Trophies the same way.

When you play Story Mode, you can gain Gear Boxes by finding Breakables, Observables, and completing Story Mode on harder difficulties. You can save all of these Gear Boxes for later, rather than use them immediately. There is not time limit on when you can open Gear Boxes you obtain for Scavenge Gear.

When you reach higher Reputation levels in multiplayer, you have better chances of finding better gear with higher stats. Its usually better to save up your Gear Boxes for later on to have more chances at obtaining really good weapons and armor.

While this may be more common sense, it should be stated that playing through Story Mode with a friend will make most situations easier. You can play through the entire Story Mode in co-op online, which can be a great idea for tackling both the Hard and Realistic difficulty levels.

The communication between you and your teammate can make the tougher sections in later missions more easier to complete. In addition, both of you will receive rewards for completing missions together in Story Mode, giving you Story Mode XP and Steel you obtain from collectibles.

The following are pieces of information that For Honor doesn't explicitly tell you in-game. All of which you should know before getting into matchmaking online and discovering during battle.

When you activate Champion Status for your profile, you gain bonus XP, bonus steel, and higher drop rates for gear, in addition to giving bonus XP to any players that you play with online. When you have a team of four players in one group, everyone that has Champion Status enabled will have their bonus XP stack between players.

This is a good way to gain levels quickly for a specific Hero that you play with online. Though it costs at least 2000 steel to activate Champion Status for a few days, you can make a lot of your steel back, and more, by playing with Champion Status alongside others who do too. This is supplemental to any Daily or Weekly Orders you complete while playing online, which can give you even more XP and Steel for your profile.

Not only will both the basic and advanced tutorials teach you a thing or two about combat, but finishing them will reward you with 3,500 Steel. This isn't something to ignore, considering cumulating that much Steel is usually incredibly time consuming.

With this much Steel, you can unlock almost every Hero, which will let you equip them with better gear.

You receive weapon and armor gear occasionally from completing matches online, or through Scavenge Gear when editing Heroes. However, the frequency of higher level gear, and gear with better stats, goes up exponentially after you reach Reputation 1 and beyond with at least one Hero. This is also impacted by having Champion Status purchased, making rare gear drops more possible.

Rather than using Scavenge Gear frequently and wasting precious Steel when you are at Reputation 0, wait till you reach Reputation 1 to start getting the most from your hard earned Steel. This is also true for any Gear Boxes you may have obtained and saved up. Once you are Reputation 1 with any hero, all of the gear you obtain from the Premium Gear section becomes significantly better, in both stats and rarity.

When playing team-based games in For Honor online, you will notice that you can hit your allies despite not dealing damage. While this is both humorous and helpful in most cases, it can also be something devastating when teaming up on one enemy near a cliff or large drop. You can still hit your allies off a cliff with your attacks when attacking wildly against a foe.

If you find yourself fighting an enemy with an ally nearby, you both must take care not to position each other near the edge of a cliff. Its ok in most cases to attack freely when everyone is on the ground level and not near near any environmental hazards, but must be more cautious if you are. The attack meant for an enemy might be the one that pushes your ally off the edge, changing momentum of the match.

The same can be said for spiked walls, large fires, and other environmental hazards on the map. To avoid this, try keeping a safe distance from your ally when you both are attacking enemies near hazards.

It can be difficult, yet very satisfying, bringing another player down for an execution in online multiplayer. But don't think you're out of the woods when you have your enemy at their knees awaiting death. You can still be killed by other players when you're in the execution animation.

When you start an execution on a fallen enemy, you temporarily lose control of your character until the animation is complete. During this time, you can be attacked and killed by another player that may be nearby. This is a common thing that happens online, but the game doesn't mention if you are invincible during an execution online, the short answer is you are not.

If you know you're going to be killing a player in a duel during the match, make sure you also know if there is anyone else nearby. If not, then feel free to go for the execution, however if you know there is another enemy nearby, you may want to hold off on doing so.

When you strike an enemy with a light attack that kills them without an execution, this is known as a dishonorable kill. Doing this when other payers are nearby will allow you to get kills while still be on guard against enemies.

You can actually kill yourself when you use any of your AOE Feats during battle if you're caught in the target radius. It might sound like a great idea to unleash an Arrow Storm when you're surrounded to get opponents to back off, but be wary. Those arrows will hit you, too--and any allies in the vicinity.

At the same time, this can also be a tactic when you find yourself greatly outnumbered during Dominion and Skirmish matches. If you're fighting and getting overwhelmed, you can get lucky and kill the other players if you use your AOE Feat on the area where you are standing. While you'll still need to be revived or respawn, it will prevent other players from taking points if you happen to be killed.
