Star Wars Battlefront 2 Will Take Place Across Multiple Eras

More heroes and characters.

During its third-quarter earnings call with investors, EA gave more details on the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront sequel.

The follow-up is due to release holiday 2017, with EA mentioning the addition of a single player campaign to the sequel. It also said the new Battlefront game has "more heroes and characters" than the original game, and takes place not only in multiple locations, but also across multiple eras within the Star Wars universe.

EA first officially confirmed the sequel to Star Wars Battlefront back in May 2016, and at E3 we learned EA Motive was working on the game. EA has Motive, DICE, and Criterion bringing "their areas of expertise" to the game.

Interestingly, during the investor call, the game was not referred to as "Star Wars Battlefront 2," but instead was called the "next" Star Wars Battlefront.

The quarter saw record Q3 net and digital sales revenue for EA, with over $1.1 billion in net revenue, up 7% over the same period last year. Digital revenue accounted for 60% of that figure.

Excellent Aim	Earn an Excellent rating 6 times in a row using Shotlock	Find good positions to use Shotlock in, such as when there's only one Heartless left in a group that would make it easy to focus on getting an excellent rating. An excellent rating is where you complete all the objectives of a Shotlock command, in our case the first one being to time your button press when the circles overlap.
Stylish Moves	Use a Style Change to defeat 50 Heartless	Simple enough.
A Fine Finish	Activate Spellweaver's Finish command	Also simple.
Wardrobe Weaver	Equip an item in all wardrobe slots, then activate Spellweaver's Finish command	Fairly self explanatory.
Trendsetter	Equip an item in a wardrobe slot	Can easily be done early on by equipping the wardrobe you get at the start of the game, Plain, or the wardrobe piece you get from the Streetlamp Striker Objective.
Streetlamp Striker	Hit 20 streetlamps	Hit 20 streetlamps enough times to where the targeting indicator disappears and you get no more orbs from the streetlamp. Simply hitting the lamps once is not enough.
Top of the Town	Climb to the highest point	You can find this Objective by climbing the debris in Castle Town as far high as you can go.
Starlit Wish	Watch for a meteor shower	In the place where you get Top of the Town, look in the direction of the Castle of Dreams and you'll find a meteor shower soon starts.
Heartless That Dwell	Defeat all of the Heartless in the room	Fairly self explanatory, this is done in The World Within by completing every single mirror room (not counting the hidden one you can get to in Critical Mode).
Mystery Within	Solve the mystery of the World Within and win the battle	Go back to World Within after completing it and enter the room with no monsters inside of it, but with candles. Blow out all of the candles and you'll have completed the Objective once you defeat all the enemies.
Treasure Within	Uncover the mystery of the World Within and obtain the special item	Complete the mirror puzzle that is second from the right counter-clockwise from the save point.
Gem Gatherer	Find the brightest of jewels in the mines where the Seven Dwarfs work	Find the 7 white jewels in the Mines mirror of World Within.
Connected	Discover the secret in the mirror tied to the mysterious rocks	Complete the Mines mirror puzzle with the star on two of the three floating rocks.
Queen of the Rink	Perform a spin during the fight with the Phantom Aqua	Use Spellweaver Finish command during the Phantom Aqua fight.

HBO Plans Movie on the Making of The Godfather

It will touch on Francis Ford Coppola dealing with the real-life New York mafia.

A scripted behind-the-scenes movie of the making of The Godfather is in the works.

Variety reports that HBO Films is working on the project, titled Francis & The Godfather, that will delve into the making of director Francis Ford Coppola's acclaimed crime drama. The film will touch on Coppola first joining as director, to him casting Al Pacino and Marlon Brando and dealing with the real-life New York mafia at the time.

Screenwriter Andrew Farotte will be revising his original screenplay for the film, which appeared on the Black List in 2015. Peter Bart, who first optioned author Mario Puzo's book of the same name and worked closely with Coppola when he was a Paramount executive, will act as a consultant.

No word yet on a potential release date for Francis & The Godfather or if any of the remaining original cast members, like Pacino, and Coppola himself will be involved in the movie.

Aquaman Movie Casts Its Black Manta

The Get Down's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

The Aquaman movie has reportedly found its Black Manta.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Netflix's The Get Down) is "in early talks" to play the DC Comics supervillain in director James Wan's movie. "The official offer went out yesterday and the parties are now in talks," the site claims.

Variety reports Abdul-Mateen "beat out a short list of actors that included Moonlight breakout Trevante Rhodes and 24: Legacy star Corey Hawkins."

Both trades also report that he was a runner-up for the role of Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo standalone movie, a part that ultimately went to Donald Glover.

The Aquaman movie's central villain is Ocean Master, to be played by Patrick Wilson. Jason Momoa reprises the title role, while Justice League's Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe reprise their Atlantean characters Mera and Vulko, respectively.

Black Manta made his DC Comics debut in 1967 in Aquaman #35. He's currently depicted as a mercenary/treasure hunter who wears a super-powered suit of armor.

Aquaman is slated to begin filming this April in Australia.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 76 Review

Super Krillin unleashed!

The last few episodes of Dragon Ball Super made great strides in emotional storytelling, and thankfully it’s not showing signs of stopping. Krillin takes center stage again to confront his demons. Seeing him battle with enemies from the past (and grow both physically and emotionally from it) made for a compelling story while also reinvigorating him as a strong, relevant character. His closest friend ends up being the weakest link of the episode however, as Goku’s attitude and treatment of Krillin was poor and at times almost insulting.

With Krillin’s struggle established in the last episode, this week focuses on his internal battles with fear and self doubt. It’s not something we see often, and it’s particularly compelling when coming from such a long-standing member of the franchise. Krillin has fought and died in battle many times, and the use of flashbacks along with other strange imagery helps convey the fear that Krillin has struggled with since his first brush with death. The images of giant Frieza’s surrounding him are particular unnerving and sinister as his death at Frieza’s hands was particularly brutal. The resolution was also satisfying, as it not only showed Krillin’s character growth, but also enhanced his power in a way that felt earned. Hopefully this new found strength means we will see him more often beside Goku and Vegeta, instead of shelved on the sidelines.

The speed with which he was able to overcome things did turn me off a bit though. It took just a few seconds for Krillin to push aside his fears and conquer the forest. Although this is something I would expect from Goku, Krillin is a more vulnerable human and it seems like a missed opportunity to not focus on his emotional state for a bit longer.

Seeing Goku and Krillin back together again is a good break from the usual team ups, and it’s an especially nice touch that Master Roshi wound up involved as well. Dragon Ball has an unfortunate history of letting characters slip into obscurity when they were no longer useful. It’s good to see that in Super there is an effort to show off these less powerful but still entertaining people.

The very hero of the franchise plays a part in dampening the mood of Episode 76. Goku’s childish attitude isn’t usually a problem, but his simplistic view of things feels borderline insulting to his and Krillin’s relationship. The “get over it” attitude coming from Goku was very off-putting. I would expect at least a little compassion and understanding, particularly between two friends who have fought together for so long. If this kind of storytelling is to continue, some serious change will have to happen to Goku’s core character, or else he is going to feel more and more out of place.

The Verdict

Episode 76 tells a compelling story about overcoming fear and self doubt. It’s great to see Krillin again, especially in such a meaningful way and the ending of the episode leaves some interesting prospects on the table for his future. Not all is well though, as there are moments where Goku’s character is at odds with the more mature story being told, leaving some interactions between him and Krillin feeling more hostile and off putting, then comforting and friendly like they should be.

Microsoft is adding two new pads to the Xbox One controller lineup.

On the Xbox Wire, the company unveiled the special edition controllers called Ocean Shadow and Winter Forces. The former has a matte black top that fades into a light blue metallic, while the latter has an arctic camouflage pattern.

The wireless controllers will also work with Windows 10 devices and Samsung Gear VR through Bluetooth.

The two pads will join the recently released Xbox One red matte controller. And obviously everyone can customize their own controller with Xbox Design Lab.

The Ocean Shadow and Winter Forces Xbox One controllers will both cost $70 and come out February 7.
