So now that you’ve downloaded Sword Art Online: Integral Factor and created a cool character, you need to properly prepare yourself for adventure in the massive world of Aincrad! You can learn more about this game from our last article, otherwise read on to learn some useful tips to start off your journey on the right foot.

Grind Selectively

When in doubt, level up. Sword Art Online: Integral Factor is loaded with opportunities to gain level-boosting EXP to help build your character up to par for the current floor in no time flat.

All quests have suggested levels so you can start with the lower-ranked ones first, but if you're impatient, you can also try tackling some of the higher-ranked quests with the help of another player. It’s worth pointing out that some quests are also repeatable, most notably the monster-hunting subquests you'll find on each floor. Hit these early and often until you're appropriately swole.

Skills, Skills, Skills

Beyond leveling up your character, Sword Art Online: Integral Factor also lets you equip Sword Skills to customize your hero's abilities. Weapons have four slots for Attack Skills (quick, high-damage abilities that have cooldowns) while armors have four slots for Buffs (passive, always-on bonuses). It behooves you to fill these as soon as you find relevant Sword Skills along your adventure.

Some offensive Sword Skills can only be equipped onto certain of the six weapon types, so if you have several for Axe but just one for Spear and Sword, you might want to favor Axes in the early going. And don't overlook the passives! As many long-time adventurers will attest, these can be some of the most useful upgrades in the game.

Prepare a Backup Weapon

Notice that orange button on the UI? This button lets you swap between two active weapon loadouts. More than just making you feel real fancy, doing so also lets you take advantage of multiple Sword Skill sets during a single battle.

For optimal results, make sure each weapon has a differing elemental affinity, as enemies will often have elemental weaknesses and resistances on later floors. Life will be much easier when you can just swap out weapons to fully take advantage of (or negate) their traits.

Don't Forget Your Partner

For optimal results you should focus not only on your character, but also pay attention to Koharu, your AI partner, and her gear and Sword Skill. While it's fine to just give her hand-me-down gears at first, it's smarter to make her kit complement your hero's loadout as your inventory grows. Once you get Koharu fully equipped with an array of Sword Skills, she'll become a great asset in battle.

Enhance Literally Everything

Leveling up and finding good rewards is one thing, but you'll really take your character to the next level once you start upgrading your gear and Sword Skills. Both require enhancement materials, and you can visit a Blacksmith to see which materials are needed to upgrade which gear or skill. Once you max out a Sword Skill, you can then "transform" it to make it even stronger and unlock another rarity star. This requires lots of materials, of course, so always keep an eye on what the Blacksmith currently needs and which enemies drop those resources.

 Off to a Good Start

Hey, why are you still here? You've got quests to complete, floors to conquer, and a bunch of weapons, armor, and Sword Skills to enhance, so get in there and build the strongest hero you can. As more and more floors of Aincrad unlock, you'll need all the power you can muster. Remember you can download the game through your app store of choice  once you’re ready to dive right in and check us out on Facebook.
