Marvel Comics have revealed the return of Exiles, an ongoing comic book series that will be written by Saladin Ahmed (Black Bolt) and penciller Javier Rodriguez (Spider-Woman) along with inker Alvaro Lopez, colorist Jordie Bellaire, and letterer Joe Caramagna.
Check out the cover to Exiles #1:
The original Exiles saw various characters from across the alternate worlds and divergent timelines of the Marvel multiverse team up to fix broken timelines, and this new series is following a similar path. The original Nick Fury is now a cosmic observer (like the Watchers) called the Unseen, and when he sees a threat to the multiverse, he recruits a team consisting of Blink (from the original Exiles), Khan (an older, battle-worn version of Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel), Iron Lad (a younger version of Kang the Conqueror who became a hero with the Young Avengers), Wolvie (a cutesy cartoon version of Wolverine), and one more to-be-revealed character.
“EXILES is a two-fisted, big-hearted wild ride of a book about a diverse team of alternate universe Marvel heroes banding together to stop a dire threat to the multiverse. Sort of WHAT IF? meets classic X-Men,” Ahmed said in a statement. “Grizzled old Kamala Khan! Disgustingly cute cartoon Wolverine! It's a dream of a book to be working on for a Marvel fanboy such as myself, full of deep-cut guest stars and mind-blowing easter eggs. But it's also new-reader friendly -- a self-contained story of a group of misfits coming together, learning to trust each other, and, if they're lucky, saving the !@$# universe.”
Exiles #1 goes on sale April 11, 2018.
