The Purge 4 was announced almost a year ago as a prequel leading up to the events in the first Purge movie. And now the prequel has an official title and poster.
The First Purge's promo poster ties into modern day events with a riff on President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again red hat.
As for the plot, The First Purge focuses on how, in an effort to get the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, "the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community."
If you suspect this plan is clearly going to snowball, then the plot summary confirms those suspicions.
"But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation."
The film will be directed by Burning Sands' Gerard McMurray and will be released on July 4.
