DC Films Reportedly Gets New Boss

New Line production exec to oversee WB's DC movie efforts.

Warner Bros. has reportedly promoted Walter Hamada to oversee its DC film production division.

According to Variety, Hamada will serve as the new president of DC Films, replacing Jon Berg and Geoff Johns. In the wake of Justice League's disappointing performance at the box office, reports emerged last month that DC Films would undergo a restructuring in January that would make Berg a production partner alongside Roy Lee.

Johns will continue to serve as the chief creative officer at DC Entertainment and provide guidance on the company's film efforts, as well as its comic book and television endeavors. Warner Bros. said Johns will "work closely" with Hamada.

Hamada previously worked as a production executive on a number of horror films—including Stephen King's IT, The Conjuring, and The Gallows—at New Line, which is a division of Warner Bros. It's also worth noting he has a well established working relationship with Aquaman director James Wan, and was instrumental in establishing the shared universe that was built from scratch off the the success of The Conjuring.

The new DC Films president will not only oversee movies that are part of the DC cannon, but all other comic book films produced by the studio.
