A Silent Voice was released in Japan on September 17, 2016

A Silent Voice is based on Yoshitoki Ōima's manga of the same name, and tells the story of a high school boy named Shouya Ishida, who, haunted by how he bullied a deaf girl in elementary school, sets out to make amends.

The film, directed by Naoko Yamada and written by Reiko Yoshida, received glowing reception from critics when it released in Japan last year, winning a number of awards, including Best Animation of the Year in the 26th Japan Movie Critics Awards.
