With the Nintendo Switch’s anniversary just around the corner, it seems as though there’s plenty to celebrate. However, some Switch owners are discovering an unpleasant surprise on the console's birthday. It looks as though the Switch was programmed to only keeps track of your gameplay times for one year, and has begun resetting players playtimes.
Initially reported by a user from the video game website ResetEra, play times for launch games are being reset on Switch profile's all across the globe. IGN has confirmed the issue; as you can see in the screenshot below, our Switch now states that we started playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the very first time today.
As the Switches' official public launch on was March 3, many early adopters can expect to have their playtime reset at the stroke of midnight tonight. All is not lost, however, as the issue itself can be fixed with a firmware update from Nintendo. IGN has reached out to Nintendo about the matter but is yet to receive a response.
