It's never been a better time to be a fan of anime and manga. The internet has made it easier than ever to collect and enjoy almost every series and one-shot you can think of. The Western hunger for Japanese comics and animation has given rise to some really excellent and inexpensive collections, and we've gathered a bunch here to help fill up empty space in both your shelves and your heart.
You can always catch up on your favorite shows on Netflix, Crunchyroll, or less reputable streaming websites, but truthfully the days or crazy expensive anime box sets are over. You can pick up some of the all-time greats and sole nostalgic favorites without breaking the bank. Let's take a look:
Death Note: The Complete Series Blu-ray
Forget the live action adaptation, the original is the way to go, all in one fell swoop. You can get the original manga, too, in either one enormous volume, or a cool boxed set. I have the one-volume version and there's definitely some dark magic going on to keep it all together. It's awesome.

Cowboy Bebop: The Complete Series Blu-ray
Cowboy Bebop is the series you show people who've dipped their toes into sci-fi anime, but aren't ready to go into the really deep weeds. This is basically Firefly: the Cartoon, only this precedes the Fox series.
---------------------------

Akira: Collector's Edition Case Blu-ray
The story of Akira suffers in its adaptation to the screen, but the hand drawn animation is absolutely incredible. You can get the entire manga series in a gorgeous hard-cover set, but it's not cheap. However, it's one of the best boxed sets I've ever seen. I love mine.
---------------------------

Ghost in the Shell Deluxe Edition Hardcover
Here's another boxed set of a movie that lost something in the adaptation to the screen. There's a lot of heady stuff to try and distill, and it kind of falls apart in the third act, but the manga smooths it all out and it looks awesome, too.
---------------------------

This show is from the studio behind Parasyte, and takes the concept of being trapped inside of a game and builds an entire series around it.
---------------------------

Ouran High School Host Club Complete Manga Boxed Set
If you're a collector of physical media, like me, this paperback boxed set is the perfect addition to your collection. It's also cheaper to buy the physical version than the Kindle version, but I went ahead and added that one, too, in case you prefer digital copies.
---------------------------

Dragon Ball Z: Seasons 1-9 Blu-ray Collection
This is easily the most well-known anime series for anyone younger than 60 (that honor goes to Astro Boy). This Amazon exclusive boxed set has 9 seasons in one glorious package. That's almost three times someone throws a punch!
---------------------------

Claymore Vol. 1-27 Complete Series
Half-human, half-monster warriors who are humanity's only hope? Could it get anymore manga than that sentence? This epic collection has 27 volumes of Claymore issues, with special art and a case to hold it all.
---------------------------

This is either a great anime series or a slap in the face of the Ghost in the Shell name, depending on your point of view. There's sadly no middle ground. You can only love it or hate it. I'm sorry, I don't make the rules.
---------------------------

Soul Eater: The Complete Series
This series has a 4.8 out of 5 star rating with 548 customer reviews on Amazon, which is fantastic. It doesn't have a fancy case, but who cares? There's almost 1300 minutes of anime in there!
---------------------------

Soul Eater Not: The Complete Series
This version of the Soul Eater series follows a girl who enrolls in the Death Weapon Meister Academy after she discovers she can turn into a weapon. BRB watching this entire thing.
---------------------------

Fruits Basket: The Complete Series
This series is a complete departure from basically everything else on this list. But that's a good thing. The beloved manga transitioned seamlessly into a beloved anime series, and you can scoop up the whole thing in one fell swoop.
---------------------------

This isn't a series and it isn't for everyone, but it's a movie you really owe it to yourself to check out. A lot of what makes space/sci-fi anime great today can be traced back to this, so it's important from a purely historical standpoint.
---------------------------

Robotech: The Macross Saga Complete
Robotech is actually three different, disparate TV series all bundled together and repurposed for Western audiences. But if you have Amazon Prime you can watch them as their creators intended, remastered. Still holds up.
Seth Macy is watching Robotech right now. Follow him on Twitter @sethmacy.
