True Detective Season 3: Mahershala Ali to Reportedly Star

Deal expected to close soon.

Mahershala Ali is reportedly in talks to star in the third season of True Detective.

According to Tracking Board, Ali, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Moonlight, is allegedly close to signing a deal to star as the lead in Season 3 of HBO's crime drama series.

It's important to note that Ali's deal has not yet been closed, and that HBO still has yet to officially announce a third season.

According to reports back in March, work on Season 3 is currently underway. The first two episodes have reportedly already been written by series creator Nic Pizzolatto, who is said to be working with Deadwood creator David Milch.

There's no word yet Ali's potential role, as story details for Season 3 have yet to be revealed.

In addition to Moonlight, Ali also appeared in several other recent films, including Hidden Figures and Free State of Jones. He can also be seen in several television series, including House of Cards and Luke Cage, and stars in Madden NFL 18's new Friday Night Lights-inspired campaign mode, Longshot.
