Five Nights at Freddy's 6 Canceled

But the restaurant isn't closing down for good.

Scott Cawthon, developer of the Five Nights at Freddy's series, has revealed he has ceased work on his new project, a sixth installment in the horror franchise.

Five Nights at Freddy's 6 had not been officially announced, but Cawthon has said "I fear that I've been neglecting other things in my life for the sake of trying to keep up with those mounting expectations."

There have been five entries in the main franchise, with Sister Location releasing last year as the most recent. There is also an RPG spin-off, FNaF World, which has been released for free after being pulled from Steam.

Nothing will be revealed about the nature of FNaF 6, however Cawthon says he won't be giving up on making games, nor will he be leaving the FNaF series behind. In addition, the movie is still in production, and he is working to release a VR game "at some point."
