Less than 20 days into the shooting of Deadpool 2, director David Leitch (who also directed John Wick and Atomic Blonde) looks like he's having fun.
In an interview with IGN at San Diego Comic Con, Leitch discussed how actor Josh Brolin was the perfect choice for the legendary character of Cable. Brolin, who's long been a fan-favorite for the part, has apparently been getting into the role on his end, transforming himself physically with tons of time in the gym as well as absorbing himself in the character.
"When he graciously agreed to do the role, Ryan and I were through the roof; we love him," said Leitch. "He's such a great actor, he brings a humanity to Cable, but he also has the depth of acting chops to hang with the comedy when needed. He's bringing that character to life in the short 12 days we've been shooting and I couldn't be happier."
Leitch went on to describe a killer chemistry between Brolin and co-star Ryan Reynolds that fans were going to love, and how Deadpool 2 allowed for both world building and playing around with the characters.
Deadpool 2 has been fast-tracked and is scheduled for release in 2018.
