Vin Diesel Reveals Director Justin Lin Back for Fast 9 and 10

"We’ve heard your concerns about the saga and where it needs to arrive in its final chapters."

Vin Diesel has teased a future roadmap for Fast and Furious 9 and 10, strongly hinting director Justin Lin and co-star Jordana Brewster will be back for both films.

Speaking on Facebook yesterday, Diesel showed on video that he's working with Lin and Brewster on a secret project. After revealing the director on screen, Diesel said, "You wanted 9 and 10 to be incredible. We’ve heard your concerns about the saga and where it needs to arrive in its final chapters."

EW reports that Lin — who directed the third through sixth installments of the series — is in advanced talks to helm the next Fast and Furious film. IGN has reached out to Universal for comment and will update this story should the studio respond.

Earlier this month, Lin was linked to a movie adaptation of Lone Wolf and Cub. He will reportedly produce the Paramount project and is possibly eying the director's chair.

But that's not all, as Lin has been working on Space Jam 2 as well.

As for Brewster, she didn't appear as Mia in Furious 7. She's the brother of Diesel's character Dom in the franchise, but also the wife of Brian O'Connor, who was played by the late Paul Walker.

Diesel heavily implies Brewster's returning, though. "You’re about to see [Brewster] in the upcoming chapters of the Fast universe," he said.

Earlier this month, Fast and Furious 9 was delayed, pushed back from 2019 to April 10, 2020. In the meantime, there will be a Fast spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
