Sony claimed that if E3 was the first half of the story, Paris Games Week would be the second. During its nearly two-hour media showcase, we got a ton of new trailers, some brand new game announcements, a handful of release dates for our most-anticipated 2018 games, and even a few small surprises.
Here are all the news and trailers from PlayStation's Paris Games Week 2017 media showcase.
Sony saved one of the most highly-anticipated reveals for last with a brand new trailer for The Last of Us: Part 2. The brutal cinematic trailer introduced us to some new characters, but revealed no other details.
This story-heavy trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man from Insomniac Games gave us a look at everything that's at stake in Peter Parker's upcoming adventure, as well as some cool web-slinging action. There's no release date yet, but it's slated for launch in 2018.
Sony's media showcase kicked off with Ghost of Tsushima, a surprise announcement from Sucker Punch Productions, the studio behind the Infamous series. The cinematic trailer showed the Mongolian army ravaging a village in what Sony describes as an open-world action game set in the feudal era of Japan.
The new God of War trailer showed off Kratos battling monsters in a cave alongside his son. Still no release date on this one outside of an "early 2018" launch window.
The new trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2 gave us another look at the heroes and villains of DICE's upcoming shooter.
Along with a brand new trailer, Sony announced Call of Duty: WW2's first DLC, The Resistance, which will be out January 30 on PlayStation 4. We also got a look at the Caretan bonus map, which is available with a season pass.
Quantic Dream debuted a new trailer for Detroit: Become Human, showing off a particularly brutal scenario involving an abusive father and the choices one android can make to avert tragedy. Detroit: Become Human launches Spring 2018.
The stunning Shadow of the Colossus remake, first announced at E3 earlier this year, got a brand new trailer showing off its gorgeous world running on the PlayStation 4 Pro. You sadly can't see it in the video above, but Sony's stream also included a look at Wander battling the sand snake Phalanx, the 13th colossus.
The official YouTube description for the trailer also reveals a surprise release date of February 6, 2018. We've reached out to Sony for confirmation.
Horizon Zero Dawn's first DLC, The Frozen Wilds, got a new trailer. The first DLC for Aloy's journey launches November 7.
Destiny 2's first DLC expansion, Curse of Osiris, is coming December 5. Bungie offered a brand new trailer along with the news.
Far Cry 5's new gameplay trailer showed off some co-op action set in rural Hope County. Players will be able to dive into every single mission with a friend when Far Cry 5 launches on February 27, 2018.
Resident Evil 7's new trailer for its first DLC, Not a Hero, pits Chris Redfield against Lucas Baker. Like the base game, Not a Hero can be played entirely in VR. The free DLC launches on December 12.
The add-on chapter Final Fantasy 15: Episode Ignis got a release date of December 13 along with a new trailer. We also got another look at Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy 15, a standalone game slated for launch on November 21, 2017.
Monster Hunter World's new trailer also revealed its PlayStation 4 beta, which begins on December 9 for PS Plus users, as well as a Horizon Zero Dawn crossover that lets you play as Aloy, exclusively on the PS4.
One of the biggest surprise announcements was Spelunky 2, which will launch first on PlayStation 4 and Steam. There's no release date yet, but the "story" trailer did seem to reveal one big detail: the protagonist of the first Spelunky having a child and passing his adventurer's hat onto them.
Guacamelee 2, a sequel to DrinkBox Studios' action platformer from 2013, was announced with a new trailer showing off trippy interdimensional platforming, four-player co-op, grappling hook action, and "new chicken mechanics." It's expected in 2018.
LocoRoco 2 Remastered was announced earlier this year, but its brand new trailer also dropped a release date of December 9, 2017. It will be playable in 4K on the PlayStation 4 Pro.
That was everything Sony announced during its Paris Games Week media showcase, but not everything they had to show off. Stay tuned for a roundup of the PSVR offerings and indie games shown off during the pre-show.
