This page contains information on the Ancient Tombs that can be explored in Assassin's Creed Origins.
Each tomb contains either an Ancient Tablet or an Ancient Mechanism. The reading an Ancient Tablet will earn Bayek an extra ability point, and the Ancient Mechanisms will offer insight into the world of the First Civilization.
Location: Giza
At the foot of the rocky hills in northwest Giza, find the entrance to this tomb nestled into a large cave mouth at the edge of the desert.
Use caution when entering this area, however - a crew of Lv 17-19 bandits have made camp in the upper levels of the tomb, with several patrols near the entrance and withing the chambers beyond.
Make your attack at night to catch half of the bandits sleeping - you should be able to take out the guards by the entrance individually if you're patient. Use long grass and high ledges to your advantage here. Inside, you'll find a few different paths into the rear chamber - you can eliminate most of the bandits here while they sleep if you attack under cover of darkness.
Pass by the large statue - you can find a piece of Silica and a carbon crystal by diving into the pool behind it and following the tunnel - then turn the corner to the right at the end of the room and head up the ramp.
At the top of the hill you'll find some scaffolding and two lifts. The one directly ahead of you is weighted down by the large spool of rope - pick it up and carry it up the stairs to your left. Place the spool on the lift you find here, which will act as a counterweight to the first platform. Pile at least three nearby rope spools onto this platform to keep the first one weighted down. Go back to the top of the stairs and leap to the platform, which should now be able to bear your weight.
Follow this path into the next room, then climb down the statue of Sobek to reach the floor below. Here you can find the ancient tablet and some other loot.
Location: Siwa
Find this tomb in the rocky hills to the northeast of Siwa village. You will find a young boy named Fenuku outside the entrance, with a side quest marker for the mission Hideaway.
Head into the tomb and destroy the weakened wall covered in scarabs to your left, then pass through this new opening. You can move into the chamber ahead of you to speak to Chenzira, or just head up the ramp immediately on your right. At the top of the slope, turn left into the alcove and move into the next room.
Notice the tracks underneath the shelving - these indicate that the shelves can be moved. If you pull the one directly across from you (as you enter this room) out and aside, you can find several lootable items including a gear chest.
The one on the lefthand wall is blocked by several large pots - destroy them and move the shelf to the right to pass into the main chamber of the tomb.
Drop down into the chamber below and speak to Chenzira, then interact with the large Ancient Tablet to receive an ability point.
The Nomarch's Tomb is located near the southern border of the Black Desert, by where it meets both Faiyum and the White Desert Oasis. On the easter edge of the rocky hills there, you'll see some low-topped ruins with red paint. There's some rigging set up over an opening nearby - drop down into the ruins to enter the tomb.
Head through the door at the south end of the chamber full of corpses and down the descending hall, then take a right through the chamber and continue downwards.
You’ll find yourself in a large chamber with several smaller rooms off the to sides. Search around the chamber to collect any treasures and silica, then locate the lever mechanism in the center of the room and pull the crate along the track next to it to brace either end of the lever.
Run up the lever and jump to the stone beam ahead of you, then make your way to the platform above the righthand side of the room (from the door you entered from). Collect the treasure and silica from the open chamber up here, then move down the wall to find a weakened section surrounded by scarabs.
Smash through the wall to find the Ancient Tablet. Once you’ve collected everything in this chamber, smash through the weakened wall in the back-right corner. You’ll find a forked path in the tunnel beyond - go to the right to reach the tomb’s exit.
The lefthand tunnel, which leads west, will lead you to a large flooded chamber containing an Ancient Mechanism. Dive into the pool below you - there are no dangerous creatures within. Collect all of the silica sitting at the bottom of the pool, then interact with the large obelisk in the center of the underwater chamber to activate the mechanism for 5 silica.
This tomb is located in the Desheret Desert - it's the only thing in the region. It can be approached from either end, but the "true" way into the strange man-made chasm is from the west - simply ride into the mouth of the crevasse.
When approaching from the east during daylight hours, you’ll see a large mirror reflecting sunlight into the strange canyon. Follow the beam of light until it disappears - make your way into the recessed area where the beam ends. You’ll see another large mirror mounted on a column - pull it outwards to catch the sun and continue the chain.
Repeat this process through the canyon until the beams of light finally lead you into the large chamber with an Ancient Tablet at the top of an incline.
After examining the tablet, collect any silica around the room and head into the chamber on your left. You can use fire to remove the cobwebs from the large mirror above the tablet, but this is unnecessary. Collect any treasure and silica in this next chamber, then activate the ancient mechanism at the far end for 5 silica.
This tomb can be reached by heading into a cave just south of the road leading east towards Saqqara / Giza, in the central part of the Isolated Desert. At the rear of the cave is a weakened wall - destroy it to enter the tomb.
Once inside, follow the beams of light bouncing from mirror to mirror. When there’s an interruption in the chain, locate a moveable crate and pull it into position to continue the light’s path.
Follow the light through the next chamber and down a flight of stairs until it stops on a mirror covered in cobwebs. Burn the webs off to continue the light’s path, and follow it through the tunnel at the far end of the room.
In the next room you come to, move another crate to reposition a mirror, then follow the beam to the next blockage, a set of pots in the next room. Smash the pots to clear the way, then wait for the focused sunlight to ignite a patch of flooring that conceals a chamber below.
After dropping down, the light will be aimed directly at the Ancient Tablet in the next room. Once you’ve interacted with it, head through the cobweb-filled archway on the left side of the room and follow the tunnel until you come to a spot with a crack in the wall covered by a crate. You can move the crate to return to the surface, or follow the path through the cave to reach an Ancient Mechanism.
When you reach the exit hole for the tomb, follow the tunnel around to the left and slide down a steep sand slope. Follow the path at the bottom down into the cavernous chamber, and collect the silica from around the room. Make your way down into the belly of the room to activate the mechanism for 5 silica.
The entrance to this tomb is at the base of the southwest corner of the pyramid that lies to the east of Krokodilopolis.
Head down the tunnel and use the rubble on your right in the first room you enter to climb up to the chamber above you.
In the middle of the next room, you’ll find a door with a sigil on either side. in the front section of the room, on either side of the door hall, there are thin wood covers - use a torch or fire arrows to burn them, then hop down and destroy the sigil on the weakened wall at the other end of the short tunnel - be careful not to get caught in the sand that pours from each one.
After both have been destroyed, the door will open. Follow the passage through the door until you reach a gate that you can climb into a large chamber. There is a pool with several crocodiles in the center of the room - if you’re under the region’s recommended level you’ll need to be extra cautious.
Crouch-walk along the wall to your right, climbing over the short gate at the next door you come to. This leads upstairs to a room overlooking the pool below - use the oil jars around this room to distract / scare off the crocodiles (temporarily), allowing you to dive down into the pool.
Quickly swim towards the bottom of the pool and enter the submerged passage you find there. Follow it, collecting any treasure or silica from the rooms on either side, until it ends in another cylindrical chamber with the Ancient Tablet in it. Interacting with the tablet will restore your oxygen supply.
To escape, swim up to the surface above the tablet and climb the large statue of Sobek and move the shelving behind it to exit the tomb.
This tomb is located in the northeast corner of Saqqara Nome, in the large pyramid of steps. Approach the pyramid from the north and make your way down to the tunnel that's been dug out beneath the base of its northern face.
Follow the hallway down until you reach a storeroom with a moveable crate on the righthand wall. Move the crate and continue through the passage behind it - you’ll come to a T junction with another hallway. On your right is a crack in the wall you can pass through, to your left the hall continues. The crack leads to a couple of chambers with some treasure and silica inside, but the Tablet lies further down the hall.
This passage opens into a large chamber with a weak wall on the opposite side from where you entered. Break through and continue down the tiled hallway - you can find treasures and loot behind these pots, but be careful when smashing them; some of the large ones have cobras inside.
Follow the halls until you round a corner and find a hall that has three weakened walls on your left. The Ancient Tablet is behind the second wall you come to.
After interacting with the tablet, climb the tall cabinet on your right and follow the tunnels until you reach a movable crate. Pull it back and pass through the crack to return to the surface.
The Tomb of Khafre can be found within the southern of the two large pyramids in Giza. Climb the wall to the opening on the north face of the pyramid, then light a torch and follow the passageway down into the tomb.
Head through the door on your left at the end of the hall where the first passage bottoms out, then follow this path into the next room. Interact with the moveable wall (covered in scarabs) on the lefthand side of the room to move into the next chamber.
Before running up the boat-shaped ramp in the center of the room, move around behind it and move the shelving unit along the track and into place below the end of the lever. This will prevent it from dipping downwards and allows you to make the jump to the ledge ahead of you.
After climbing up onto the ledge, follow the long hall ahead of you to find and interact with the Ancient Tablet at the end. Do a sweep around this room and surrounding corridor to avoid missing any valuables, then head down the hall opposite where you entered from and follow the passages until you return to the surface.
The Tomb of Khufu is located in the northern-most great pyramid. You can reach it via the opening on the north face of the pyramid - the same entrance to the pyramid used during the main quest The Hyena. To reach the tomb, follow the tunnel that leads down a passage to the left instead of squeezing through the crack into the path leading to the quest area.
ANCIENT MECHANISM: You can activate the ancient mechanism that The Hyena was attempting to use. Retrace your steps through the crack and into the main chamber, then interact with the obelisk.
The left path will lead you to a stone passageway - take a right into the passage and follow it upwards. When you pass through the stone archway, take either ramp on the side of the hall to continue upwards - but be sure to collect the treasure through the hole underneath, first. Follow it to the top and crawl through the hole in the wall to continue.
After exiting the tunnel, collect the treasure around the room and pass through the movable wall to the right of where you entered from (again, look for the scarabs) to find yourself in a room full of treasure.
You need to get the rock face between the two statues to lower so you can climb it. On either side of the statues are two weakened walls with eagle sigils on them - destroy them with a melee attack to release a torrent of sand that will clear space for the door.
When both sigils are destroyed, climb up the lowered wall and cross through the small room to slide down the treasure pile and interact with the Ancient Tablet.
Crawl through the tunnel behind the tablet after collecting the rest of the treasure in the room. Climb across the wooden poles to reach the ledge on the other side of the chamber you come out into (you can climb down to collect some silica then climb back up). Follow the passages through the tomb to reach the exit on the south side of the pyramid.
The Tomb of Menkaure is located inside the smallest of the three Great Pyramids in Giza.
Follow the path into the tomb until it intersects with another hall that leads off to the right. Instead of continuing down that hall (there is some treasure to be found there), face the wall behind you and climb up into the space above the door you entered through.
When this upper passage dead ends, look up to see a wooden hatch covering the ceiling above you. Destroy it with an arrow and climb up to find the tablet.
The Tomb of Smenkhkare is located at the southern tip of the Haureis Nome region. South of Hermopolis, at the base of a large hill, a set of ruins (marked by several large pillars) has a staircase in its center going down to a weakened wall. Destroy the wall to get inside the tomb - be warned that this entrance has a pride of lions that lives in/around the area. Once inside, follow the hall ahead of you and jump off the wooden platform into the pool below.
There is a hallway that leads off underwater to your left - follow it around a few corners until it opens into a larger chamber with a stairway leading up at the opposite end.
Surface into the chamber above you, then exit through the door and take a left into the large chamber full of hanging platforms.
Head up the stairs in the back-left corner of the room, then jump onto the first platform. Let it sink a bit, then jump to the next and use the other one to reach the stone ledge across from you.
Let the next platform sink so that you’re roughly at eye level with the one in front of you, then climb up and use the hook to swing around the corner and use the next platform as a stepping stone to the next ledge.
You’ll find the Ancient Tablet in this next chamber - but be wary of the bandits who lurk within.
Pass through the narrow passage behind the Tablet, then make your way down the ramp and onto the ledge overlooking the chamber below.
Dive into the pool beneath you, then climb out and head through the archway at the other end of the room to find the mechanism and activate it for 5 silica.
The Tomb of Sneferu can be found in the northern of the two central pyramids of Saqqara Nome. Climb the north face of the pyramid and enter the tomb via the tunnel leading down from the hole in the side.
Inside the tomb, the first chamber you find yourself in has a small hole in the wall next to you. Crouch and move through it to enter the next room, then open the panel in the wall covered in scarabs on your right. There is silica and treasure if you climb the wall at the far end of the room first.
Through the wall, slide down the slope and into the flooded chamber below you. You can dive into the pool to collect some loot and silica, then move up the ramp on the far side of the water. Move through the next hall and jump to the opposite wall of the shaft you come to, then climb down to reach the bottom and slide through the hole in the base of the wall.
In the next room, locate the movable crate on the right side and pull it down the track towards the platform next to the entrance. Climb onto the platform and pull the crate onto it to weigh it down, then climb onto the one hanging at the other end of the room and jump to the door above you.
Smash through the pots to continue into the next room, then bank into the doorway to your right. Climb up onto the platform with the large pot destroy it to remove its weight. Collect any treasure and silica you can from the alcove above you, then head back to ground level and move at least two of the heavy spools from the platform on the ground to the one in the room next to you.
Climb the crate and jump to the platform on the other side of this room to reach the exit door, then interact with the Ancient Tablet in the room at the far end of this hall.
The entrance to this tomb is located near the western edge of Uab Nome. Follow the road across the river from Krokodilopolis south to the rocky hills in the vertical center of Uab Nome. You'll find a large hole in the wall of the cliffs here (marked by a slain wildebeest, a warning of the lions within). Make your way into the cave to locate the tomb.
This is less a tomb than it is a large cave. Follow the passage into the large central chamber, then head through the passage by the rear wall.
Continue along this passage to the left, past the tree growing inside, and enter a smaller cave. Inside you’ll find the Ancient Tablet.
To escape, squeeze through the crack in the wall to your right and head up the inclined passage to return to the surface.
The Tomb of the Nomads is nestled into the cliffs of the north-west crag of the Isolated Desert, between the Black Desert and the Qattara Depression. Follow the road that runs along the Isolated Desert's western border towards the Depression and you'll find a small settlement. Built into the cliffs on the eastern side of the tiny village is the tomb's entrance.
The main room inside has a set of stairs leading up from either side. Head up the stairs on your right and pass through the broken wall ahead of you when you reach the top.
Move through the passage and dive into the cave. There are other treasures in this chamber as well, but you can find the Ancient Tablet around the backside of the large stone column in the center of the pool. Destroy the wooden gate blocking your access to it with a melee attack to claim your reward.
